    RB Formula 1 boss Laurent Mekies has emphasized the team’s focus on providing Daniel Ricciardo with the tools to excel regularly, as the Australian struggles to find consistency in the current campaign. Ricciardo’s mixed performances over the opening nine races have led to concerns about his future with the Red Bull sister team, particularly as he trails 10 points behind teammate Yuki Tsunoda.

    However, Mekies believes that Ricciardo’s standout showing in Canada, where he translated fifth on the grid into an eighth-place finish, demonstrates his race-winning capabilities.     “We are focused on making sure that Daniel can perform at his best,” Mekies told RACER. “And I think this weekend, as much as Miami and as much as perhaps China, are a good reminder to all of us of how high a performance Daniel can provide if he’s in the right window, if we give him what he needs.”

    Mekies added that the team is thinking “every day, every hour, every minute” about how to deliver the platform from which Ricciardo can excel regularly. He emphasized that it’s the team’s responsibility to ensure that Ricciardo has the tools to operate at a level that’s “impossible to ignore.”

    Ricciardo, who recovered from a clutch issue that earned him a five-second penalty, admitted to feeling relieved after securing his first points in grand prix conditions this season. The eight-time F1 winner hopes to build on his Canadian Grand Prix performance in coming races.
