British GT: SRO and Pirelli Extend Partnership to 2028

In a significant development for the British GT Championship, SRO Motorsports Group and Pirelli have announced a five-year extension to their partnership, which will see the Italian tire manufacturer continue to supply tires to SRO’s GT racing championships until the end of 2028.

The agreement, revealed on Sunday, will cover all four regional Fanatec GT World Challenge powered by AWS competitions in Europe, America, Asia, and Australia, as well as the GT4 European Series powered by Rafa Racing Club and the Fanatec GT2 European Series. Notably, the latter will feature a ‘powered by Pirelli’ suffix starting in 2024.

While the Intercontinental GT Challenge will introduce some tire diversity in 2024, with the addition of the Nürburgring 24 to the schedule, the partnership extension is a major boost for the British GT Championship, which forms part of the GT World Challenge Europe.

“Success in motor racing requires the very best partners and, in Pirelli, we have exactly that. For the past decade, they have provided a world-class product to our teams, while also adding considerable commercial and technical support to our series and one-off events around the globe. It was natural, therefore, that we should extend our cooperation by a further five years,” said Stephane Ratel, SRO founder and CEO.

Pirelli, which has been working on further evolutions to its GT racing tire products, recently held a development test at Barcelona to explore potential options for GT3, GT2, and GT4. The company’s latest product, the Pirelli P Zero DHF, was gradually introduced to SRO’s different GT3 championships from the beginning of last year.

“It is a source of great satisfaction for us to continue to provide such exciting and increasingly popular championships. In these years of collaboration with SRO, we have supported the evolution of cars and race formats around the world. We will reinforce this commitment over the next five years, confirming the spirit that has always distinguished us and associated us with the organizer: a strong focus on customer and fan satisfaction,” said Mario Isola, Pirelli motorsport director.

As a result of this extended partnership, British GT teams can expect to continue benefiting from Pirelli’s high-quality tires, which have played a crucial role in the championship’s growth and success. With the 2023 British GT Championship just around the corner, this news is sure to generate excitement among teams, drivers, and fans alike.
