Formula 1 News: McLaren Boasts the Most Consistent Package, Says Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz

In a surprising revelation, Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz believes that McLaren has the best package in Formula 1, outperforming even Red Bull in terms of consistency. This assessment comes after Lando Norris’s impressive performance at the Spanish Grand Prix, where he narrowly missed out on victory to Max Verstappen.

Sainz pointed out that McLaren’s MCL38 does not seem to have any major weaknesses, unlike Red Bull, which has struggled with kerb-riding issues. “I think honestly, the most consistent car right now is a McLaren,” Sainz explained. “I think Red Bull are struggling in certain tracks. Same as us. McLaren is quick everywhere. They’re quick in low-speed. They’re flat in turn three and nine. They were fastest in turn five.”

This sentiment was echoed by Red Bull team boss Christian Horner, who acknowledged that Verstappen would have been beaten to the victory in Spain if Norris had not dropped back to third early on and lost time behind George Russell. “I think if Lando would have had track position, it would have been difficult to beat him today,” Horner said.

However, McLaren team boss Andrea Stella was more cautious in his assessment, feeling that the two teams were evenly matched. “I think the race pace was very, very similar,” Stella explained. “The fact that we were faster at the end is because we had fresher tyres. The fact that he was faster at the start is because we were behind Russell.”

As the Formula 1 standings continue to shift, McLaren’s progress is undeniable. With their consistent performance, they are now a force to be reckoned with in the Formula 1 calendar. As the season unfolds, it will be interesting to see how McLaren fares against Red Bull and Ferrari in the battle for the top spot.
