Aston Martin Confirms Lance Stroll’s Contract Extension to 2025 and Beyond

Formula 1 Driver Secures Long-Term Future with the Team

In a move that cements Lance Stroll’s position within the team, Aston Martin has confirmed that the Canadian Formula 1 driver will continue to race with the team “for 2025 and beyond”. This announcement effectively extends Stroll’s contract, solidifying his place on the grid amidst the turbulent driver market.

Stroll has been an integral part of the Aston Martin lineup since 2019, when his father, Lawrence, acquired the assets of the then-Force India squad. Over the course of 112 races, the Formula 1 driver has achieved a best result of third place, twice โ€“ in the 2020 Italian and Sakhir events.

“I’m super happy to have committed to staying with the team for 2025 and beyond. It’s amazing to see how far we’ve come in the last five years; we’ve grown so much as a team and there’s still so much more to look forward to.”

While the specifics of Stroll’s previous contract were unknown, it was understood to be a long-term deal announced in late 2018. However, with consistently poor results compared to teammate Fernando Alonso, speculation had grown around Stroll’s future with the team. This announcement puts an end to such speculation, ensuring Aston Martin’s driver lineup remains stable for the foreseeable future.

Aston Martin Pleased with Stroll’s Contributions

Aston Martin team principal Mike Krack echoed Stroll’s sentiments, stating, “We are delighted to confirm Lance’s future with Aston Martin. He has played a key role in building this team. His technical feedback, alongside his committed simulator work, has helped contribute to the continuous development of the car each season. The consistency and stability of both Lance and Fernando remaining with our team is a great platform to continue to realise our ambitions.”

With Alonso committing to a new contract in April, the duo will now head into their third season as Aston Martin teammates in 2025. As the 2024 campaign unfolds, Stroll and Alonso currently sit with 17 and 41 points, respectively.

This announcement solidifies Aston Martin’s Formula 1 driver lineup for the 2025 season, and beyond, as the team continues to push forward in their pursuit of success in the pinnacle of motorsport.
