Aston Martin Boss Backs Alonso’s Call to Action After Tough Run of Form

Krack Agrees with Alonso’s Demand for Fewer Words and More Delivery

Aston Martin’s Formula 1 Team Principal, Mike Krack, has thrown his full support behind Fernando Alonso’s call to action, urging the team to focus on delivering results on the track rather than talking about them. The Silverstone-based squad has faced a tough time lately, with a series of upgrades failing to yield the desired improvement in results.

Alonso, who has been largely positive despite the team’s struggles, sounded a more critical tone after a pointless result at his home Grand Prix in Barcelona, stating “It’s time to work harder, to talk less, to deliver more.” When asked about Alonso’s comments ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix, Krack wholeheartedly agreed with the Spaniard’s assessment.

“Obviously, when you develop your car over the year and also since the time he’s here, you have a close working relationship with the driver,” Krack explained. “I think that applies to all the senior figures. And when you bring upgrades to the car, you tell the drivers also what you expect from them. If you then do not deliver the performance that you promised, then obviously they are not happy. And this is, I think, what Fernando has referred to. I cannot agree more with him. It’s time to deliver and not to talk.”

Unfortunately for Aston Martin and Alonso, they were unable to deliver at the Austrian Grand Prix last weekend. Neither Alonso nor teammate Lance Stroll was able to pick up points in either the Sprint or GP at the Red Bull Ring, plagued by lowly qualifying performances.

Alonso, who has previously enjoyed multiple Q3 appearances this season, could only manage 15th on the grid for the GP, while Stroll started 12th for the Sprint. This has left Aston Martin stranded in fifth place in the Constructors’ standings with 58 points, 28 ahead of sixth-placed Red Bull Racing and 138 behind fourth-placed Mercedes.

In a recent interview, Alonso stressed the need for improvement, saying “We need to get better for the next race. About the details, I think it’s a very clear answer. So let’s try to get better for Silverstone.

With Aston Martin’s headquarters based right next to the home of the British Grand Prix, Alonso implied just how important it is for the team to perform well this weekend. Despite the team’s poor run of form, the Spaniard remains hopeful of a better result at Silverstone.

“Silverstone is our home grand prix,” he said. “It cannot be any other home grand prix than Silverstone for Aston Martin. So we really need to perform better there. I’m reasonably optimistic that we can turn things around.”

Formula 1 fans will be keeping a close eye on Aston Martin’s performance at Silverstone this weekend, as the team looks to turn its season around.
