Ferrari Confirms Departure of Chassis Technical Director Enrico Cardile to Aston Martin
According to a recent development in the world of Formula 1 news, Ferrari has officially confirmed the departure of Enrico Cardile, its chassis technical director, who is set to join the Aston Martin team. As Motorsport.com exclusively revealed back in May, Cardile had been a long-term target for Aston Martin as part of the Silverstone squad’s efforts to climb the Formula 1 grid.
The Italian, known for his contributions to Ferrari’s recent Formula 1 chassis developments, will integrate into Aston Martin’s current technical structure, led by Dan Fallows. Although a firm start date has not been agreed upon with Ferrari, discussions are underway between the two teams.

In a brief statement, the team said, “Scuderia Ferrari HP announces that Enrico Cardile is leaving the company, therefore relinquishing his role as Technical Director Chassis Area. After almost two decades with Ferrari, Cardile has handed in his notice and therefore, with immediate effect, and as an interim measure, the Chassis Area will be overseen by the Team Principal, Frederic Vasseur.”
Cardile’s sudden departure is a significant blow to Ferrari, which is currently facing difficulties in Formula 1. The team’s latest upgrade has not been as successful as hoped, with its new floor that debuted at the Spanish Grand Prix resulting in a return of high-speed bouncing problems. For the British Grand Prix, Ferrari reverted to its older Imola-spec floor, hoping to resolve the issue.
Meanwhile, Aston Martin’s recruitment drive continues, with the recent announcement of former Mercedes F1 engine chief Andy Cowell joining the team as Group CEO in October. The squad is also rumored to be in talks with design legend Adrian Newey, who is set to leave Red Bull in March next year.
