Formula 1 News: Esteban Ocon Praises Haas’ Recent Improvement Amid 2025 Speculation
Esteban Ocon, the current Alpine driver, has lauded Haas’ recent performance boost, which has seen the team take giant strides in the Formula 1 standings. This praise comes amidst rumors linking Ocon to a potential move to Haas in 2025. The American squad introduced a substantial upgrade package at the British Grand Prix, enabling Nico Hulkenberg to secure a sixth-place finish, replicating his result from Austria.
Haas’ improvement serves as “an example to every team,” according to Ocon, who is currently in his final season with Alpine. The Frenchman believes that Haas’ recent success should be a benchmark for other teams, demonstrating how to make meaningful strides in the competitive world of Formula 1.
“There’s nothing more to say on that,” he stated, adding, “I’ve said already what I had to say on Thursday. We are obviously working on my future. There are good discussions going on, and I hope that I will be able to announce very soon.”
Ocon’s current team, Alpine, endured a dismal British GP weekend, failing to score points for the first time in five races. The Enstone-based squad’s improved run came to a halt, with Ocon lambasting his team’s calls that saw him eliminated in Q1. The timing of their move to intermediate tires also proved to be a costly mistake, leaving Ocon to trail home two laps down in 16th.
Reflecting on the disastrous weekend, Ocon lamented, “There’s nothing brave about that race. Everything that could have gone wrong went wrong. We took every wrong decision from before the race to on the grid to during the race. Every call or information were the wrong ones.”
However, Ocon remains hopeful that the Hungaroring, a tight and twisting track, should suit Alpine’s A524 car better. He emphasized the need for the team to execute the weekend flawlessly to secure points. “We need to optimize everything,” Ocon stressed. “For us to be able to fight with the other guys, we need to be perfect on every single decision, optimize the car set-up, because otherwise, we’re outside the top 10.”
As Formula 1 moves to Budapest, Ocon is keen to put the British GP behind him and focus on the upcoming race. “We just turned the page and we go again in Budapest, which is a very good track. We hope to be back to where we should be. But today, it was a very difficult one.”
With the Formula 1 calendar heading into its next stage, Ocon’s future remains a topic of interest, particularly amid links to Haas. Whether he joins the American squad or remains with Alpine, one thing is certain – the Frenchman is determined to succeed in the world of Formula 1 today.
