IndyCar News: Marco Andretti Confirmed for 19th Consecutive Indianapolis 500 Start in 2024
IndyCar veteran Marco Andretti is gears up for his 19th consecutive start at the Indianapolis 500 this May, once again teaming up with Andretti Global’s #98 car for a one-off affair. The 36-year-old Nazareth, PA native has a storied history at the iconic Speedway, with four top-three finishes, including a remarkable second-place finish in his 2006 rookie season.
Although Andretti has yet to claim victory at the Brickyard, he has shown impressive pace, securing the pole position in 2020. However, his recent Indy 500 performances have been inconsistent, with an average finish of 18th since 2018.
In addition to his IndyCar commitments, Andretti’s focus lies primarily with NASCAR in 2024. He recently announced a split schedule with the Craftsman Truck Series and the ARCA Menards Series, set to compete in 20 races across both series throughout the season.
“I’m really happy with the program we’ve put in place for my racing schedule in 2024,” Andretti said. “This plan is a good mixture of races with the ARCA Menards Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series that provides maximum track time, which is what I’m after.”
As the IndyCar 2024 season approaches, Andretti’s commitment to the Indianapolis 500 remains unwavering. With practice for the 108th Running of the Indianapolis 500 scheduled to begin on May 14th, fans can expect to see the experienced driver back in action, gunning for his first Indy 500 win.
