Formula 1 Fans Warned Against Buying Resale Tickets for Sold-Out Livery Launch Event at O2 Arena
Tickets Sell Out in Record Time
Formula 1 enthusiasts who missed out on purchasing tickets for the highly-anticipated livery launch event at London’s O2 Arena next year have been cautioned against buying from resale websites. The event, which marks the start of F1’s 75th anniversary season, takes place on February 18 and features all 10 teams unveiling their 2025 liveries alongside one another.
Tickets for the unique event, which brings together all 20 drivers and their team principals, sold out in a record-breaking 45 minutes after going on sale last Friday. The £58-£113 price range, plus booking fee, did little to deter fans, with many waiting online for hours in advance of the ticket window opening.
Resale Listings and Warnings
However, shortly after the tickets sold out, several listings appeared on resale websites, with some sellers asking for exorbitant prices of over £1000. Autosport has learned that conversations between Formula 1 and The O2 revealed that some of these listings were for non-existent seats.
“We advise all our fans to only buy tickets through theo2.co.uk or via AXS Official Resale,” the statement read.
In response, Formula 1 issued a statement warning fans against buying tickets from unofficial resale websites, citing that such purchases would be invalid for entry to the event.
The Livery Launch Event
The immersive evening, dubbed F175, did not employ dynamic pricing, a welcome respite for fans. While reselling tickets via third-party companies at inflated prices is not illegal, the stance taken by Formula 1 and The O2 should serve as a deterrent.
As the Formula 1 calendar builds up to the season-opening Australian Grand Prix on March 16, fans are eagerly anticipating the launch event. With the Formula 1 news community buzzing, enthusiasts are urged to stay vigilant and avoid succumbing to fraudulent resale offers.
