Red Bull Racing Secures Sergio Perez for Formula 1 until 2026

Red Bull Racing Confirms Perez’s Contract Extension

In a move that strengthens their chances in the Formula 1 standings, Red Bull Racing has announced that Sergio Perez will continue to drive for the team through at least the 2026 season. The World Champions confirmed on Tuesday that the 34-year-old Mexican driver has signed a two-year extension to his existing contract.

Perez, who joined Red Bull Racing in 2021 after stints at Sauber, McLaren, and Force India/Racing Point, impressed last season by finishing second in the championship. His current deal was set to expire after the 2024 campaign, but Red Bull has now secured his services for another two years, alongside reigning World Champion Max Verstappen.

“I am really happy to commit my future to this great team, it is a challenge like no other racing for Red Bull Racing, both on track and off track,” Perez said, expressing his delight at the opportunity to continue his journey with the team.

    Perez Confident in Team’s Future

The Mexican driver, who has slipped to fifth in this year’s championship following a couple of difficult events, remains confident in his abilities and those of the team.

“Being part of the team is an immense challenge, and one I love. We have a great challenge this year and I have full trust in the whole team that the future is bright here and I am excited to be part of it.”

Red Bull Racing Praises Perez’s Continuity and Stability

Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner has backed Perez to rebound from his recent struggles, praising the continuity and stability that the Mexican driver brings to the team.

“Now is an important time to confirm our line-up for 2025 and we are very pleased to continue working together with Checo,” Horner said. “Continuity and stability are important for the team and both Checo and Max are a successful and robust partnership, securing our first-ever one-two finish for the Team in the Championship last year.”

Horner is confident that Perez will return to his proven form and performance, citing his strong start to the 2024 season, which included second-place finishes in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and Japan, as well as a podium in China.

“The past few races have been tough, there is convergence on the grid, but we are confident in Checo and look forward to his return to proven form and performance, that we so often see,” the team boss added.

With Perez and Verstappen forming a formidable partnership, Red Bull Racing is well-placed to contend for the Formula 1 title in the coming years.
