Helmut Marko Declares Red Bull in “Luxury Position” for 2025 F1 Driver Selection
Red Bull’s Stacked Driver Lineup
Helmut Marko, esteemed advisor to Red Bull, has declared the company is in a “luxury position” with regards to selecting its drivers for the forthcoming 2025 Formula 1 campaign. This follows Sergio Perez’s latest contract extension, solidifying his status as Max Verstappen’s partner for yet another term. As Red Bull shifts focus towards finalising its driver lineup for its sibling outfit, RB, CEO Peter Bayer has voiced his support for extending Yuki Tsunoda’s existing contract.
Tsunoda appears set to retain his seat unless opting to pursue alternative opportunities outside the team. Meanwhile, teammate Daniel Ricciardo finds himself struggling to consistently mirror his younger counterpart’s pace.

Liam Lawson and Ayumu Iwasa: Rising Talents
However, Marko remains tight-lipped about Ricciardo’s future, suggesting rival driver Liam Lawson, whom he’s guaranteed a permanent drive could fill the second seat alongside Yuki Tsunoda.
“With Liam Lawson as reserve, we have a strong driver who, contractually, can drive for another team if he doesn’t get a seat with us in 2025,” Marko revealed exclusively to Kleine Zeitung.
Furthermore, rising star Ayumu Iwasa, who secured fourth place overall during the previous Formula 2 season now holds the third position in this years Super Formula championship. Having notched a Formula 1 grand prix debut at Suzuka during the first practice segment, Marko has acknowledged potential within Iwasa to assume the vacant driver seat.
“Iwasa now ranks third in the Super Formula. His second race showed how good he could be.” – Helmut Marko
Isack Hadjar Impresses
Marko also praised French hotshot Isack Hadjar, currently ranking second in Formula Two with multiple victories under his name.
“Hadjar’s recent showcase has impressed us, showing great pace despite initial complications and mechanical setbacks. He has overcome the hurdles to claim important podium finishes. We must highlight that our junior driver team boasts numerous talented individuals right now.“
