Red Bull’s Christian Horner Confident Perez Will Bounce Back Amidst Ferrari’s Canadian GP Struggles

Amidst Ferrari’s dismal performance at the Canadian Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner conceded that Sergio Perez’s underwhelming weekend was somewhat mitigated by the Scuderia’s troubles. Ferrari, touted as the favourite to secure back-to-back victories, suffered a double retirement, while Red Bull’s Max Verstappen clinched a hard-fought win, extending their lead over Ferrari to 49 points in the Formula 1 standings.

    Horner Optimistic About Perez’s Prospects

Despite Perez’s inability to capitalize on Ferrari’s struggles, Horner remained optimistic about his driver’s prospects, citing his tendency to rebound from adversity. “What we see with Checo time and time again is that when you think he’s on the ropes, he bounces back,” Horner said in an interview with Sky Sports F1. “He’s a tough racer and he’s a tough character, and it hurts him more than anybody else.”

Perez, currently fifth in the Drivers’ Championship, faces a significant 87-point deficit behind his teammate Verstappen, who holds a 58-point lead over Charles Leclerc. The Mexican driver’s recent form has been concerning, with only four points accumulated over the last three rounds. However, Horner has expressed faith in Perez’s ability to recover, stating, “He’ll be determined to come back and show everybody the form we know he’s capable of and that he showed in the first four races of this year.”

Perez Faces Challenges in Upcoming Races

As the Formula 1 schedule moves on to Barcelona, Horner emphasized the importance of Perez recapturing his early-season form. “We need Checo back up there where he was at the beginning of the year from Barcelona onwards.” Perez, however, will face an additional challenge in Spain, having been handed a three-place grid drop for continuing to race with a damaged car in Canada.

“We need Checo back up there where he was at the beginning of the year from Barcelona onwards.”

With Ferrari struggling to find their footing, Red Bull will look to capitalize on their momentum in the upcoming races. As the battle for the Formula 1 championship intensifies, stay tuned for the latest Formula 1 news and updates.
