Alpine Prioritizes Professionalism in 2025 F1 Driver Lineup

In a recent interview with Sky Sports F1, Alpine team principal Bruno Famin emphasized that “professionalism” is the top priority when it comes to selecting the team’s 2025 Formula 1 driver lineup. This announcement comes on the heels of the Enstone-based squad’s decision not to extend Esteban Ocon’s contract, which means the French driver will depart at the end of the current season.

The tension between Ocon and his teammate Pierre Gasly has been well-documented, culminating in a dramatic first-lap incident at the Monaco Grand Prix earlier this month. However, as Alpine searches for Ocon’s replacement, Famin stressed that the ability of the drivers to work together will be crucial in the team’s decision.

“I think the relationship doesn’t matter. The professionalism matters. We need professional drivers,” Famin explained. “They need to work together. It’s part of the job to be able to work with his teammate to get the best for the team.”

Reserve driver Jack Doohan is currently the frontrunner to partner Gasly in 2025, having completed a testing regime in older-spec cars and participating in an FP1 session at the Canadian Grand Prix. Famin confirmed that the Australian, who finished third in the Formula 2 championship last season, is a strong contender for the vacant seat.

“I think he’s an option, for sure. Jack is an option,” Famin said. “We are preparing him. He was testing in [Austria] not long ago, and yeah, he has a quite heavy testing programme โ€“ and we’re happy with that.”

Other potential candidates for the 2025 Formula 1 race seat include Sauber’s Valtteri Bottas and Guanyu Zhou, as well as Alpine World Endurance Championship driver Mick Schumacher. With the team’s focus on professionalism, it will be interesting to see who ultimately secures the spot alongside Gasly.
