Aston Martin Fails to Make Progress with Latest Upgrade Package in Formula 1

    Formula 1 News, May 29, 2023

Aston Martin’s latest upgrade package, introduced at Imola, has not yielded the desired results, as the Silverstone-based team struggles to make progress on the timesheets. The AMR24 has proven to be harder to set up and drive, with both Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll experiencing difficulties in balancing the car throughout corners.

The challenges were evident in Imola, where Alonso had an uncharacteristic accident during FP3 practice, which compromised his entire weekend. In Monaco, the team’s struggles continued, with both drivers qualifying outside the top 10 and failing to move up the grid.

“These two weekends have been a big wake-up call and it will be very good for us,” Alonso said, finishing just out of the points in 11th place.

However, the two-time world champion does not expect a quick fix, revealing that it will take “a few races” for Aston to roll out its next significant upgrade package. “We had some doubts after Imola and in Monaco that we didn’t manage to go fast, and we have to try to change this trend,” Alonso explained.

Lance Stroll echoed Alonso’s sentiments, describing the AMR24’s handling difficulties as a “challenge” to keep the car balanced. “Some entry oversteer, some corner understeer, kerb riding, just the usual things to keep working on,” Stroll said.

As Aston Martin continues to work on improving its Formula 1 car, fans can expect a more united effort from the team to get back on track. With the next upgrade package on the horizon, the Silverstone-based squad will be eager to make progress and climb up the Formula 1 standings. Stay tuned for more Formula 1 news and updates.
