Red Bull’s Perez Ready to Give 100% After Securing Contract Extension
In a move that solidifies his commitment to the championship-winning team, Sergio Perez has expressed his enthusiasm for his new contract extension with Red Bull, declaring his willingness to give “100 per cent” to the team.
Speaking exclusively to Formula 1 news outlets, Perez, who has been with Red Bull since the 2021 season and has scored an impressive five of his six career Grand Prix wins with the squad, conveyed his satisfaction with the renewal. “I obviously feel happy [about the renewal],” he said. “Once you get an agreement, it means that both parties are happy with what we’ve got and happy to move forwards. We’ve got great targets ahead of us.”
Perez, who has experienced the intense atmosphere at Red Bull firsthand, acknowledged the team’s high demands. > “Red Bull, it’s a team that really takes everything out of you – it’s something that, since I came here, the amount of how intense everything is, on track, off track… It’s a challenge you don’t have anywhere else.”
The Mexican driver, who has found success with Red Bull, attributed his willingness to commit to the team to the challenges it presents. “I haven’t had that sort of challenge in my career, so when I signed I’m really up for it and willing to give 100 per cent. It was a very straightforward negotiation. Obviously I’ve been in the team for a few years already, so when you are already there it’s a lot easier to reach an agreement.”
When questioned about potential talks with other teams before signing his new contract, Perez admitted, “You’re always talking to different teams, there were other options out there. But for me, my Plan A, B and C was definitely to stay at Red Bull.”
Perez’s commitment to the team is unwavering, with the driver stating, “I really want to finish my career here, whenever that is. It’s a team that has given me so much that I’m just really happy. I give my best to this team, until my last lap.”
