Formula E London ePrix: Vandoorne and Vergne Showcase Exceptional Skills
In the Formula E London ePrix, Stoffel Vandoorne and Jean-Eric Vergne demonstrated exceptional skills, showcasing their determination to excel in the competitive world of electric racing. During the third free practice session, the two DS-E-TENSE FE23s strategically positioned themselves in the top 10, carefully gauging the track’s evolution amidst the heat and humidity. This tactical move allowed them to conserve energy for the 28-lap race on Sunday.

Vandoorne remained in the top three, while Vergne oscillated between fifth and 10th place. The race was more dynamic than the previous day, with the field stretching out further, highlighting the importance of fine-tuning in Formula E.
Vergne adopted a waiting game, while Vandoorne carefully managed his energy to stay with the leaders. This approach paid off, as Vergne’s battery power exceeded the race leader’s by 1.2 kWh. Although Vandoorne’s time at the front cost him energy, he recovered some performance potential by staying with the pack.
However, being in the midst of the pack came with risks, and Vergne’s front wing was ripped to shreds due to unintentional contact. Fortunately, he didn’t need to pit. With 10 laps remaining, wisdom prevailed, and the two DS E-TENSE FE23s secured sixth and seventh places, completing another double finish in the points for DS Penske.
This result keeps both drivers in the top 10 overall, solidifying the Franco-American team’s ambitions in the tight Formula E championship. The series will now take a five-week break before the next double header in Portland, USA, providing a much-needed respite for the teams to recharge and regroup.
