Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz Secures Impressive P5 Finish at Silverstone, Hails Team’s Strategic Calls

In a thrilling Formula 1 qualifying session at Silverstone, Carlos Sainz proved his mettle, clocking in a remarkable P5 finish amidst treacherous track conditions. The Spanish driver, who has been with Ferrari since 2021, praised his team’s strategic decisions, citing it as one of his “most solid” races with the Scuderia.

Speaking after the race, Sainz revealed that he had a “lonely” start, struggling to keep pace with the top three cars. However, as the track transitioned from wet to damp conditions, he took advantage of the situation, pushing his limits and making a comeback.

“I could catch up to them, and I thought maybe we were back in the race, and [I thought] then maybe [if it] stays like this in these conditions for the rest of the race we might have a chance here,” Sainz explained. “But then in full wet or in full dry we were just not quick enough.”

Despite falling short of a podium finish, Sainz was pleased with his overall performance, acknowledging that the team’s strategic calls played a significant role in their success. He also secured a bonus point for the fastest lap, showcasing his skill and adaptability in the ever-changing Formula 1 standings.

“This is Formula 1 – you need to be there when the car is good and when the car is bad, and today we maximised even with a bonus point there for fastest lap,” Sainz said. “A P5 but it was nearly a P4, then it looked like a P3 for a bit, and then… Yeah, that’s why I’m happy, I’m proud, because I know that today it was not easy out there.”

Sainz’s impressive display at Silverstone is a testament to his growth as a driver and his ability to navigate the complexities of Formula 1 qualifying and race strategy. As the Formula 1 calendar unfolds, fans can expect more thrilling performances from the Ferrari driver.
