    Ferrari Unleashes Major Formula 1 Upgrades Ahead of Spanish Grand Prix

    In a bid to overcome its disappointing performance in Canada, Ferrari has successfully prepared its latest Formula 1 upgrades for the Spanish Grand Prix. The team’s modifications to its sidepods, ‘Cobra’ winglets alongside the cockpit, and rear wing are already evident, even before the official FIA submission document is released ahead of the opening free practice session.

    Following a double DNF in Canada, Ferrari’s chances of closing the gap in the championship took a hit. However, the team is now looking to bounce back with its new upgrades, which are visually striking and pack a performance punch. The sidepods, in particular, have undergone significant changes, with a reshaped undercut and beltline that provide more space between them and the upper surface of the floor. This revamp is expected to improve performance and lay the groundwork for the new floor design, which is set to arrive in a few races’ time.

    Cobra Winglets and Rear Wing Upgrades

    The ‘Cobra’ winglets have also been optimized, with taller winglets extending up around the rear leg of the halo’s fairing. This redesign will alter the airflow and vortices that spill from the winglets, promising to enhance the car’s overall performance. Furthermore, Ferrari has introduced a medium-high downforce rear wing to its repertoire, seeking to find the perfect balance between the specifications used in Monaco and Imola. The mainplane and upper flap design sit between the high downforce variant used in Monaco and the medium downforce one used at Imola, and while it will impact the performance of the DRS when in operation, it should provide the desired downforce level.
