Ginetta Announces Landmark Partnership with SRO Motorsports Group to Bring Championships Under British GT Umbrella

In a significant shake-up to the British GT and BTCC/TOCA support packages, Ginetta has announced a three-year partnership with SRO Motorsports Group, effective from the 2023 season. This strategic alliance will bring Ginetta’s three championships โ€“ Ginetta Junior, Ginetta GT Academy, and Ginetta GT Championship โ€“ under one series package, offering a clear ladder of progression for Ginetta racers.

    Ginetta Junior Championship

The Ginetta Junior Championship, the UK’s longest-running junior series, will continue to provide a platform for 14 to 17-year-old racing drivers transitioning from karting, utilizing the multi-disciplined Ginetta G40.

    Ginetta GT Academy

The Ginetta GT Academy will cater to entry-level GT Racing, dividing the field between experienced drivers and novices, with Rookie class drivers benefiting from training and support from Ginetta factory drivers.

    Ginetta GT Championship

New for the 2023 British GT season is the Ginetta GT Championship, which will combine GT Pro and GT5 classes. Further details on the new car and championship structure are set to be announced in the near future.

“Extending our partnership with SRO Motorsports Group is all part of our vision to continue developing our racing series and experience. This partnership offers a great opportunity for us to build our offering for drivers at all levels, with ambitions to become professional racers or endurance racing competitors.” – Mike Simpson, Head of Motorsport, Ginetta

Lauren Granville, Intelligent Money British GT Championship Manager, welcomed the news, stating:

“Ginetta’s championships are a cornerstone of Britain’s modern-day motorsport landscape. Big, competitive grids and value-for-money racing make its series the ideal destination for hobby racers or stepping stone for youngsters eyeing a professional career.”

The move leaves a gap in the BTCC support paddock, with Alan Gow, Chief Executive, British Touring Car Championship, hinting that TOCA will announce plans for new series to join the UK’s highest-profile motorsport package in due course.

With Ginetta’s exclusive three-year partnership with the British GT Championship, the highly successful constructor is poised to expand its racing ladder philosophy to Europe and the USA, cementing its position as a leader in the British GT, British GT 2023, and British GT Championship scenes.
