Formula 1 Today: British GP to Settle Verstappen and Norris Score
The Formula 1 season reaches its mid-point with the highly-anticipated British Grand Prix this weekend, where the championship leaders, Max Verstappen and Lando Norris, will be seeking redemption after their collision at the Red Bull Ring last week. The thrilling battle for the lead, which resulted in both drivers suffering punctures, ended with Verstappen finishing fifth despite a 10-second penalty, while Norris was forced to retire.
The home race for both Lewis Hamilton and George Russell, who secured an impressive win at the Austrian GP, promises to be a nail-biting contest. The excitement is heightened with the news of Briton Oliver Bearman joining the grid in 2025, which will surely thrill the enthusiastic Silverstone crowd. The Red Bull’s recent loss of dominance sets the stage for an intense battle for the top spot, with the question on everyone’s mind: where can fans catch the British GP action?
Channel 4 to Broadcast Live British GP Coverage
Channel 4 will be broadcasting the 2024 British GP live for the ninth consecutive year, making it an ideal destination for fans seeking a thrilling weekend of Formula 1 news and racing action. This long-standing deal comes after the BBC relinquished its contract three years early, giving Channel 4 the rights to show F1 from 2016 to 2018.
Throughout that period, 10 rounds of each season were broadcast live by Channel 4, while Sky Sports showed every race since 2012. In 2019, Sky Sports became the exclusive holder of F1 rights in the UK, but a deal was struck to allow Channel 4 to live broadcast the British GP each season, with highlights of the rest of the grands prix.
Channel 4’s live coverage begins on Friday with first practice at 12:25 pm, followed by second practice at 3:55 pm. Saturday’s schedule includes FP3 coverage at 11:25 am, qualifying at 2 pm, and a highlights session in the evening. On Sunday, the British GP race coverage starts at 1:30 pm, with lights out at 3 pm.
