    Hamilton Sets the Pace in Spanish GP Friday Practice as F1 Qualifying Looms

    Formula 1’s Spanish Grand Prix is well underway, with Lewis Hamilton claiming the top spot in Friday’s practice sessions. The Mercedes driver posted a 1m13.264s effort, edging out Ferrari’s Carlos Sainz and McLaren’s Lando Norris. The latter had briefly led the opening session before Hamilton took control.

    Alpine’s Pierre Gasly enjoyed a strong day, taking fourth place, while teammate Esteban Ocon secured ninth. The French team’s performance was bolstered by the announcement of Flavio Briatore’s return as an executive advisor. Red Bull’s Max Verstappen could only manage fifth, 0.240s off the pace, with Sergio Perez struggling in 13th.

    The Spanish GP qualifying session is set to take place on Saturday, June 22, 2024, at 4:00pm local time (3:00pm BST). The regular Q1, Q2, and Q3 knockout format will be used to determine the starting grid.

    Radio Coverage and Weather Forecast

    Unfortunately, live radio coverage of qualifying will not be available for the Spanish Grand Prix due to clashes with Euro 2024 fixtures. As for the weather, sunshine with increasing cloud cover is forecast for Saturday afternoon, with a temperature of 24 degrees Celsius and minimal chance of rain.
