Formula 1 News: Yuki Tsunoda Secures 2025 Seat with RB Amid Impressive Season Performance

Tsunoda Extends Partnership with RB Formula 1 Team

In a significant development for the 2025 Formula 1 season, the RB Formula 1 team has confirmed that it has exercised an option to extend its partnership with Japanese driver Yuki Tsunoda. This decision comes on the back of Tsunoda’s remarkable performance during his fourth term with the Faenza-based squad, where he has outperformed his more experienced teammate Daniel Ricciardo.

Currently sitting 10th in the Drivers’ Championship, Tsunoda has capitalized on RB’s continuous improvement, recording five points finishes in the opening eight races of the 2024 season. While he was overlooked for a promotion to the parent team, with Sergio Perez signing a contract renewal, Tsunoda will remain within the Red Bull stable with RB.

“I’m very happy to be staying with Visa Cash App RB, and it’s a great feeling to have my future decided so early in the year,” Tsunoda expressed in a statement. “For that, I want to thank everyone at Red Bull and Honda who have played such an important role in my career and will continue to do so.”

The Japanese driver has been instrumental in RB’s development project, and the team believes he can help them move further up the grid. Tsunoda’s immediate focus is on the remaining races this season, aiming to bring home as many points as possible and laying the groundwork for a stronger 2025 campaign.

    RB Impressed with Tsunoda’s Progress

RB Team Principal Laurent Mekies has been impressed with Tsunoda’s “phenomenal” progress this season, citing his natural speed, mature approach, and ability to work well with the team. Mekies believes that both the team and driver share the same ambitions, making it an ideal partnership for the future.

This development is set to have a ripple effect on Red Bull’s driver lineup, with a decision now needed on whether to retain Ricciardo or hand reserve driver Liam Lawson a promotion to a full-time race drive. Despite this uncertainty, RB CEO Peter Bayer emphasized the value of retaining Tsunoda, citing his engaging nature and impressive on-track performance.

With Tsunoda’s future secured, Formula 1 fans can expect to see more of the Japanese driver’s exciting performances in the 2025 season. Stay tuned for more Formula 1 news, Formula 1 standings, and Formula 1 today updates as the season unfolds.
